Career Devlopment

Aflac New York supports the continual professional development of employees and believes that employees who are stimulated and rewarded will stay and grow with the Aflac New York family.

Once a part of our family, employees can gain valuable industry experience, continue to develop their skills, and chart their career paths. They are offered career growth opportunities through the company's internal job promotion process. Job advancement opportunities are published internally on the Human Resources Web site before they are advertised externally.

At Aflac New York, training and workforce development are mission-critical. Aflac New York offers the following professional curriculum:

Continuing Education
Through programs offered by America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), International Claims Association (ICA), Life Office Management Association (LOMA), and Society of Insurance Licensing Administrators (SILA), employees can enhance their knowledge and understanding of the insurance industry. Aflac New York's policy is to provide textbooks and study materials necessary for the completion of the examinations. The company will pay the registration fee for any Aflac New York employee to take an examination. Employees also receive financial incentive awards for successfully completing industry exams and for attaining professional designations.

In-House Training Programs
Aflac New York offers a variety of courses, including career development, personal development, industry education, individualized management development, and personal computer training on software supported by Aflac New York's Information Technology Division. Aflac New York offers on-site training to all employees at no cost, regardless of whether they use the skills they learn in their current position.

Proficiency Achievement Awards
One unique option that Aflac New York provides to employees is the opportunity for Proficiency Awards in certain positions. After employees have been in a Proficiency Awards position for one year, they may take a job competency test. Upon successful completion, they will progress to the next level of their position and receive a 3% raise.

Industry-Education Class Subsidies
Aflac New York pays the initial examination registration fee for each course and provides a cash award for successful completion of each course.
